Vitamin A requires 700 mcg RAE daily for adult women and 900 mcg RAE for men. The tolerable upper intake level is 3000 mcg RAE from supplements. It works best alongside Vitamin A (retinol).
What Vitamin A does
Supports vision, immune defence and skin integrity; required for gene transcription.
The UL applies to preformed retinol only, not beta-carotene. Pregnancy risk at high doses.
